Title
Black Pete "Stop Blackface" Postcard
Description
Postcard with an illustration of a museum. The focus of the frame is a large framed portrait of Zwart Piet, with the plaque under him reading "1850-2015." Around the corner three other portraits are visible, each one with a prominent black figure. A fourth portrait is visible but obscured. The first appears to depict police violence against a black man; in the second, a white police officer looks down on a black figure; in the third, the black figure is the only focus. In front of the Zwarte Piet portrait, there are three figures: a white woman, a small white child (presumably her son), and their dog. The son has a speech bubble attributed to him that has been left blank. In the top left-hand corner of the postcard, the words "Zwarte Piet hoort thuis in het museum" appear. At the bottom left, "stop blackface" is written in the same font. At the bottom right, the artist signs his name: George Adegite. On the reverse of the postcard, "stop blackface" is written again, and the space for writing is separated from the address lines by the address "www.stopblackface.com" written three times. At the bottom left of the postcard, the words "Vormgeving door Cablai.nl" appear.
