Description

Ultra-red is an activist-art collective founded in 1994 by two AIDS activists. Through the worlds of sound art and modern electronic music, Ultra-red pursue a fragile but dynamic exchange between art and political organizing. Ultra-red have over the years expanded to include artists, researchers and organisers from different social movements including the struggles of migration, anti-racism, participatory community development, and the politics of HIV/AIDS. In the period 2010-2014, Ultra-red published 9 "workbooks" on diverse topics related to their art practice.

URXX No. 9 is the accompaniment to a three part video that introduces the practice of militant sound research designed for organizers, cultural workers and community members interested in political and collective listening. The workbook provides additional reference information and discussion questions, as well as a case study.

This workbook has been partly digitalized.
