Title

Zwarte Piet Cards

Description

Set of 31 'happy families'-style cards in packaging labelled with Zwarte Piet and a caricature of the blackface figure. The cards depict white children engaged in a variety of hobbies, including chimney sweep, telephone, generic play, playing sports, 'frog on ball' (playing sports in nature?), engaged with food, doing maths/schoolwork, dancing, doing housework, gardening, playing in winter, playing in a lake/river, playing hospital, and dressing up. Each activity has two cards, one depicting a boy and one a girl, with the exception of the chimney sweep, which is a single card with a boy. The cards are intact, with some minor wear and tear, but the box is broken and has been sellotaped back together in several places.
